Love to Swim?

It’s hot and summer so what do you want to do? - Swim! Of course, we all do. It’s refreshing, good exercise, and Vitamin D from the sun is an added bonus. But what does it do to your hair? Well, not always good things but here are some tips that may help:

  • Get a trim. Yup, sounds too easy right? But it makes a difference, removing those dry ends can help reduce or even eliminate frizz

  • Shield your hair from damaging UV rays. Sun can cause major color fade, so using products that contain UV Filters and/or wearing a hat will help

  • Get your hair wet before you jump in the pool! Saturating your hair with “good” water can help reduce the effects of chlorine and other chemicals.

  • Take a break from Hot tools. It’s just temporary and can your hair the strength it needs to combat chemicals vs trying to recover from both.

  • Hydrate your hair. Deep conditioning weekly and using oil (such as Loma Nourishing oil) can help reduce damage and frizz.

  • Don’t get your hair wet. I know, I know that doesn’t sound fun but if you are just looking to cool down, put your hair up in a bun or pony tail and enjoy!

  • Use a swimmers shampoo or clarifying shampoo to remove chemicals from your hair that may cause damage.

Happy Swimming!
