Love to Swim?
It’s hot and summer so what do you want to do? - Swim! Of course, we all do. It’s refreshing, good exercise, and Vitamin D from the sun is an added bonus. But what does it do to your hair? Well, not always good things but here are some tips that may help:
Get a trim. Yup, sounds too easy right? But it makes a difference, removing those dry ends can help reduce or even eliminate frizz
Shield your hair from damaging UV rays. Sun can cause major color fade, so using products that contain UV Filters and/or wearing a hat will help
Get your hair wet before you jump in the pool! Saturating your hair with “good” water can help reduce the effects of chlorine and other chemicals.
Take a break from Hot tools. It’s just temporary and can your hair the strength it needs to combat chemicals vs trying to recover from both.
Hydrate your hair. Deep conditioning weekly and using oil (such as Loma Nourishing oil) can help reduce damage and frizz.
Don’t get your hair wet. I know, I know that doesn’t sound fun but if you are just looking to cool down, put your hair up in a bun or pony tail and enjoy!
Use a swimmers shampoo or clarifying shampoo to remove chemicals from your hair that may cause damage.
Happy Swimming!
